Our Story

For the past 10 years, Eric Schaffer & The Other Troublemakers have been entertaining crowds throughout Arizona and beyond.   With a musical style that flows between Country, Folk and "Singer-Songwriter", they play a mix of well-crafted original songs, classic covers, and deep cuts - all of which feature their trademark two, three and four-part harmonies.

They play 50-70 dates per year at clubs, restaurants, private events and have opened for Grammy Award-winners Marc Cohn and Lonestar at Tucson's iconic Fox Theater.   Eric has also opened for Clint Black, Blackberry Smoke and Radney Foster.

Eric has been recognized as one of Southern Arizona's best songwriters and his vocals have been compared to Steve Earle and Kris Kristofferson.   Lead guitarist Loren Dircks is well known as one of Arizona’s most accomplished pickers.  He was the front man/lead guitarist for the band Gila Bend when they pioneered “Country-Punk" in the 90’s.

Bassist Jess Barrera is an accomplished opera singer and performer who has studied under many reputable teachers in Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego.  Jess began singing and performing in high school, with director John Byun, and then in college with the Mt. San Antonio College Chamber Choir under the direction of Bruce Rogers.  He traveled with that choir and performed at American Choral Director’s Associations all across the country, Carnegie Hall performances, and won the Pavarotti Trophy and the title of Choir of the World at the international competition in Llangollen, Wales.

Drummer/vocalist/newest Other Troublemaker Daniel Thomas moved from Yorkville, IL to Tucson, attended The University of Arizona and graduated with a degree in music.   He has been a fixture in the Tucson music scene for years and we're thrilled to have him with us!
